On Saturday 27th February, Bucks met Norfolk in the semi-final of the Inter County
Consolation Cup. This was yet another nail biting contest with individual games swinging
back and forth, neither side giving an inch, and some very tactical bowling taking
place. Once against Paul Knight scored in both his singles games, winning one and
drawing the other, whilst the pairing of Arnie Jaffe and Bob Hine won both their
pairs games. However, the clinching games this time were in the triples, where Theresa
Wade, Joan Northcott and skip Brian Latham and Irene Roberts, Len Ward and skip Jack
Rutley won both their games against stiff opposition. Despite making some tactical
half time changes to their teams, Norfolk could not overcome the strength of the
Bucks teams and so Bucks won the match scoring 182 shots to 170 and 23 points to
17. This puts Bucks in the final against Cheshire which is being played at the Caroline
Chisholm School in Northampton next Sunday 7th March. Anyone wishing to come and
support Bucks in this final will be very welcome. Good luck Bucks.
