Bucks welcomed Surrey to the Polish Club on Sunday 13th December. The match started well with wins from Arnie Jaffe in the singles and Harley & Marlene Neems in the pairs. Unfortunately the triples and fours lost their games by some very close margins, so the first half ended with Bucks on 4 points and Surrey on 12. The second half started to look very promising with wins from Kevin Goodman in the singles, another good win from Harley & Marlene and a draw from the other pairing of David Gander and Paul Knight. Suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel with a few more points on the card. However, Surrey were very quick to turn the light out and apart from a draw from one of the triples, all the other games went to Surrey and the match ended 14 pts to 26 pts in their favour. Strangely enough the number of shots went in our favour with 160 to 153, which under the old scoring system would have given us an additional 8 points, still not enough to win but would have made it look more respectable. Next match is against Northants on 10th  January. Perhaps our fortunes will change and we can get back to our winning ways.
