Short Mat Bowling Association

B.S.M.B.A. County Team

The County team consists of 40 players of whom any 20 play in the Inter County Competitions which are organised by the E.S.M.B.A. and are run throughout the UK across all those Counties with an affiliated Association. There are two divisions, these being Premier Division and “A” Division.

Each match comprises 2 singles, 2 pairs, 2 triples and 2 fours. All disciplines are played with 2 woods, except for the singles which is four woods.

Bucks currently play in Group 4 of of the “A” Division in these competitions together with Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Surrey.

Matches are divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon. In the 1st  session, two singles and two pairs games are played, followed by the two triples and two fours games. This format is repeated in the 2nd sessions but all players change mats and play different opponents.

2 points are awarded to the winner of each game plus a further 2 points are awarded for the highest overall score in each discipline. This means that there are a total of 40 points to be won.

Our home venue is the Handy Cross Bowls Centre in High Wycombe.
