                E.S.M.B.A. Inter County Competitions (I.C.C.)

Inter County Competitions are organised by the E.S.M.B.A. and are run throughout the UK across all those Counties with an affiliated Association. There are two divisions, these being Premier Division and “A” Division.

Up until the end of the 2008/9 season Bucks played in Group 3 of of the “A” Division in these competitions together with Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Essex and Hertfordshire. Starting in the 2009/10 season, we move to Group 4 along with Northants, Herts and Surrey.

We have a squad of players from which 20 are picked to play in each match which comprises 2 singles, 2 pairs, 2 triples and 2 fours. All disciplines are played with 2 woods, except for the singles which is four woods.

Our home venue for the duration of this competion is the Polish Club in Raans Road, Amersham.

Any players registered with the B.S.M.B.A. are entitled to apply for membership of the ICC squad and should contact the Team Manager on shortmat.bucks@tiscali.co.uk

The E.S.M.B.A.  has recently introduced a revised method of scoring the ICC matches.

The match is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon. In the 1st session, two singles and two pairs games are played, followed by the two triples and two fours games. This format is repeated in the 2nd sessions but all players change mats and play different opponents.

2 points are awarded to the winner of each game plus a further 2 points are awarded for the highest overall score in each discipline. This means that there are a total of 40 points to be won.

This scoring system continues in 2009/10 season.
